After having designed the interiors for 30 Crosby Condominium, the rock star Lenny Kravitz bought one of the two penthouses and commissioned us to do the interior architecture and decorating. We had free range to design whatever we wanted and we consulted often with the client via cellphone while he was in concert all over Europe. The interiors were designed to reflect the client’s personality and to entertain his friends. We used a monochromatic palette and selected sensual forms and wonderful textures echoing his taste for high fashion. Because of his great sense of humor, we introduced whimsical elements all over the three levels: an acrylic piano paired with two 18th century columns, a clear acrylic swing, a Donald Deskey designed pool table with feather orb light fixtures above and an undulating fireplace wall in the Living Room.
