Dorado Penthouse
I was born and grew up in Puerto Rico. Drawing from my upbringing, my work reflects a sense of open space, monochromatic color palette and most important whimsical ease. I consider interior designed spaces as “walk-in” still lives in which my clients interact. I see furniture not for their pedigree and provenance necessarily but more as shapes and color that help define an emotion in the space. The negative space within my interiors is as important as the positive space. Most of my clients are in the creative field or are creative people themselves that love to experiment with their interiors. Two prominent clients have been instrumental in defining my work: Lenny Kravitz and Morgans Hotel Group. In similar ways, the interiors of three homes for Lenny and four hotels for MHG convey clearly my design philosophy of creating interiors as comfortable and dramatic “art” installations. The images shown in this book of a beautiful penthouse in Dorado, Puerto Rico, have been artfully manipulated to convey the feeling of the interiors in a similar manner as fashion spread shots are adjusted to elicit the design concept.
